Tottenham vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 15th December 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Wembley Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham have had a very good week and Mauricio Pochettino’s team continue to impress even though they infamously did not buy any players in the summer and still have stadium issues meaning they won’t be playing in their new stadium until 2019.

Last weekend they eased past Leicester 2-0 and then followed that result up by qualifying for the knock out stages of the Champions League. It looked almost certain that Tottenham would drop down to the Europa League but a 1-1 draw away to Barcelona in midweek means that they will be in the draw for the last 16.

In the Premier League Spurs have climbed to an impressive 3rd place and are just 6 points behind league leaders Liverpool. They will be the big favourites to win this game at Wembley and the only teams to beat them here this season in the league were Manchester City and Liverpool.

Burnley got 3 massive points last weekend at home to Brighton in a nervous 1-0 win. That kept the team just above the bottom three and ended 3 straight losses in a row. However away from home Sean Dyche’s team have just 1 win from 8 games and have scored just 6 goals on the road all season, only Cardiff have a poorer record.

Team News:

Tottenham: Sanchez could make a return to the squad after his hamstring injury. Kieran Trippier could also be back after his groin injury at the beginning of the month.

Burnley: Steven Defour is 50/50 to feature after picking up a knock, Gudmundsson has the same problem, both will be assessed.

Tottenham vs Burnley Head to Head:

Burnley have no wins this century when playing away to Tottenham.

Tottenham have won 3 of the last 4 meetings.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Tottenham vs Burnley Prediction:

Tottenham will be the big favourites and they should be able to win this game even if Burnley have some confidence returned after last weekend. Tottenham boast just too much quality all over the pitch, are at their adopted home and are in high spirits after qualifying for the Champions League last 16. But they are massive odds on to win, so instead we will take them to win on the handicap, because this is a team that does have plenty of goals in them.

Tottenham vs Burnley Betting Tips:

Tottenham to beat Burnley with a -1 goal start at 1.50

Anytime goalscorer: Son Heung-Min at 2.00
