Match Preview:
Southampton come into this game in 14th place and after going on a decent run have lost back to back games. Those defeats came against Bournemouth and Tottenham.
The Saints have 7 points and with a win could move up 3 or 4 places depending on other results. At home they have been poor collecting just 1 point from the seven they have and are yet to win in front of their home fans. Their closest result here was a 1-1 draw with Manchester United and a win is overdue.
Chelsea’s form seems to be improving and this was boosted in midweek with a good 2-1 away win against Lille in the Champions League. Frank Lampard’s side had lost their opening match against Valencia and so this was a must win to keep their hopes on track.
In the league their last game ended in a solid 2-0 victory over Brighton at home and they have won 2 of their last three games including just 1 defeat in their last five.
The Blues are in 7th place and win should see them break into the top five. Away from home they have won 66% of their games beating both Norwich and Wolves and scoring 8 goals in their last two away games.
Team News:
Southampton: Cedric is out with a calf injury. Moussa Djenpro is still out with a muscle injury. Alex McCarthy will be assessed and could take part after picking up a muscle problem the week before
Chelsea : No new injuries for the club but the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Emerson and Antonio Rudiger are longer term and won’t be available for this match

Southampton are no match for this Chelsea side and we see the Blues who have enjoyed playing away lately as the clear favourites to win this. They are going through a good moment and even if form does dip again they have to take this moment and enjoy it. Chelsea are racking up the points, confidence looks good, they are playing well and have a great record over the Saints.
Southampton already look a little tried and whilst this doesn’t mean they will roll over they could be simply outclassed and this is what we think will happen. Players are scoring freely for Chelsea and they have a very good young batch of players coming through, we expect three points from them this weekend.
