Norwich vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Friday 28th February 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Carrow Road

Match Preview:

The Friday night game in the Premier League will see Norwich take on Leicester and it will be the Foxes who will start as favourites.

Norwich are 7 points from safety and barring a miracle with 11 games left to play they look like they will be relegated. They lost 3-0 at Wolves last weekend and the gulf in quality was evident it was also the Canaries 17th loss of the season.

The aim could be to try and close the gap to Watford which could be a given as Watford have to play Liverpool, and it is true that if Norwich were able to win this game they could give themselves the briefest of chances of survival. At home they have the worst record in the league with 12 points won from a possible 39 but they have lost just once in their last four home games, and that was against Liverpool.

Leicester were reminded last weekend that even though they have been brilliant this season they are truly a few levels below Liverpool and Manchester City. Having lost 4-0 at home to Liverpool earlier in the season, Man City deservedly beat them at at the King Power also. Although the score was only 1-0 it could have been more, and it was still an impressive take home of three points for Pep Guardiola’s team. With that win City have pulled away from Leicester and the gap to 2nd is now 7 points.

The Foxes have not won a game in 3 attempts now and 3rd place is hardly secure with Chelsea in 4th just two wins away from catching them. If both Manchester United and Tottenham have strong finishes to the season a Champions League place could be in doubt for Leicester, which would be an awful thought given how solid they have been this season. Whilst Leicester’s form has not been great they still have the 3rd best away record in the league and that can’t be ignored.

Team News:

Norwich: Sam Byram’s hamstring injury is worse than first thought and he will miss the rest of the season. Onel Hernandez is out until May with a knee injury. Christoph Zimmerman has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Leicester: The Foxes have no new injuries but they will hope to have Ndidi back, he is 50/50 and will face a late assessment.

Norwich vs Leicester Head to Head:

The teams haven’t played here since 2015 when Leicester won 2-1.

Norwich have not beaten Leicester since 2011.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Norwich vs Leicester Prediction:

It is wrong to think that Norwich have little to play for because they have at least 2-3 games to try and create a comeback even if it does look minimal. Leicester have the better team and if this game had taken place a few months ago when the Foxes were flying we would believe this could be an away win. There is something about Norwich at home though, they can create chances and remain a threat, and we are tempted to take the home side to get something here on the asian handicap, which would cover us if the game ended in a draw, and even make the bet void if Norwich lose by one goal. There is quite a bit of pressure on Leicester, and if they were to drop points here 3rd isn’t as given as it once was. If there are any little doubts in this Leicester side it could well bubble to the surface at Carrow Road.

Norwich vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (+1.0 Norwich) at 1.70

Anytime goalscorer: Teemu Pukki at 2.60

Both teams to score at 1.66
