Football is often full so of irony and karma that it feels almost uncanny and this Saturday evening game offers that in bundles. Newcastle managed by Rafa Benitez ex Liverpool manager legend has a chance to help Liverpool win the league title.

Let’s get one thing straight though, Newcastle and Benitez will not give Liverpool this game. However whether they will really challenge 110% for every ball and tackle or get into a physical scrap is up for debate. We must remember how happy Benitez was when Newcastle beat Manchester City at this stadium earlier in the season and then said that he was happy if he did Liverpool a favour. Let’s understand that Benitez still has very close ties to Liverpool and if we are staking money on this game side stepping this issue would be the white elephant in the room.

Moving onto form and Newcastle have gone the last 3 games unbeaten and moved into 13^th place on 42 points. The Magpies recent home form has been superb with 4 wins from their last 5 games.

Liverpool would go back into 1^st place with a win and a defeat or a draw would most probably signal the end of their title dreams. The Reds form has been simply superb as they have traded blows with Manchester City and from their last possible 30 points they have won 26.

Away from home Jurgen Klopp’s team have the joint best record with Manchester City where they have gained 41 points from a possible 54 and the club have won their last 3 away matches in a row.

Newcastle: Miguel Almiron has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury. DeAndre Yedlin has been ruled out with a groin injury

Liverpool: Naby Keita has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up a thigh injury in the Barcelona game. Adam Lallana has a chance to finally come back into the team

Maybe the Premier League has a shock for us because Newcastle are a very decent team at home. But at the end of the day they are playing a fantastic team who have lost just once in the league and can put the pressure back onto Manchester City with a win. City do not play until Monday night and Liverpool would be happy to be sitting proud at the top for a whole 2 days at least. We can’t see past a Liverpool win here but we think that by all means this will be a very close game. Liverpool are 1.30 to win the game which doesn’t give us any value, instead we will back the Reds to be winning at half time as our main bet.
