Man Utd vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 22nd September 2018
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

The smile is back on Jose Mourinho’s face as not only did he see his team sweep aside Young Boys by 3-0 in the Champions League he also saw Paul Pogba finally come to life and score a brace. The relationship looks close to repair between the two and it is happy times at United once more, what a difference two weeks makes.

United have also found some form in the league after winning their last 2 games and last week they stopped Watford’s unbeaten run with a lot of help from David de Gea their outstanding goalkeeper. Whilst United have had their problems there is no denying that when they click they are still capable of being one of the best teams in the league.

Wolves know this will be a very tough ask for them to get anything from this game. Form is good with back to back wins and they have gone 3 games unbeaten including their surprise draw at home to Manchester City but this game being away from home will be their biggest test of the season so far.

On the road they have beaten West Ham, but they have also lost to Leicester, and Man Utd will be the heavy odds on favourites to make it 3 wins out of three.

Team News:

Manchester United: Ander Herrera was expected back last week and will be assessed for the squad. Nemanja Matic is suspended for this game after his red card against Watford. Marcus Rashford is also suspended and is serving a ban, which ends at the end of the month.

Wolves: No new injuries coming into this game

Head to Head:

The teams have not played at Old Trafford since 2011 where Man Utd won 4-1.

Man Utd have scored 9 goals in their last two meetings with Wolves.

Prediction:

It’s a very rare sight that Manchester United have won a game very convincingly under Mourinho, at the weekend we could be treated to it. Every thing is in place to make it happen, the players are happy, Mourinho is happy and even the press are happy with him. This is the type of game where the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are going to find a lot of space and we expect a very comfortable afternoon for United. If not the knives will be out again but we highly doubt it.
