Man Utd vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 1st February 2020
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Manchester United have not had a good few weeks, which has included them losing at home to Burnley and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup semi-finals. They did beat Manchester City 1-0 in the 2nd leg and that is something perhaps to take away but it is still another cup that has gone begging for the team.

There is a worry that with such quality as Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford out injured, United will suffer. The good news is they have been able to bring in Bruno Fernandes and it has been confirmed that he will play in this match.

United’s overall form has been poor with 3 defeats in their last four and the only good news for them is that Chelsea and Tottenham have also stumbled, so in Chelsea’s case they haven’t run away in 3rd place and United are 6 points adrift of them. They have won 50% of their games at home and whilst that isn’t a terrible record it also underlines why they are struggling to make it into the top four.

Wolves are in 7th place with the same points as United. It’s been another solid season for the club but recent form has not been good. They have won just 1 game from their past five and their last match ended in a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool.

Away matches have been dominated by draws, 5 from 12 so far and they can be erratic meaning it is difficult to pin their form down on the road.

Team News:

Manchester United: Nemanja Matic is suspended for this game after two bookable offences in his last game. Paul Pogba is out for another two weeks and Marcus Rashford is not due back until March at least

Wolves: The club have no new injuries to report ahead of this game

Man Utd vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

Manchester United have no league wins over Wolves in the last 3 meetings.

The teams met in the FA Cup just a few weeks ago which Manchester United won the replay.

Man Utd vs Wolves Prediction:

Bruno Fernandes signing should hopefully give a boost to the dressing room and we shouldn’t forget that United do have a good team and have only lost 2 games at home this season. Wolves can give them a good game on their day but the club have just felt indifferent lately and surely we won’t see United lose at home again after the surprise Burnley defeat? Or will we? We will back United to take something from this game as home advantage just gives them the edge, and we will also back at least a couple of goals, which is very good value.
