England Premier League
Saturday 6th October 2018
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
If both of these teams were television shows they would be perhaps the greatest soap operas of the past few years, and it will all be set to continue when they meet in the early evening kick off on Saturday.
Manchester United seem to have a constant black cloud over them as the Jose Mourinho v everyone else at the club rages on. In midweek United got a decent draw 0-0 against Valencia in the Champions League but the club were heavily criticised again as this came at home and ex players including Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes have weighed in that Mourinho needs to go and there needs to be a change at the club. Then again ex players will often blame the manager rather than the numerous players not putting the effort it.
Mourinho remains however, and it could be argued that it's about time the players need to take some responsibility too, their lethargic displays are something only they can be responsible for. Mourinho can be to blame for tactics but if the players aren't even showing commitment to the cause then that shows a lack of professionalism that comes with too much player power and too many egos. To add spice as if it was needed, Mourinho will come up against his old foe Rafa Benitez who would love to rub salt in the wounds.
In the league United’s form has not been good where they have gone their last two games without a win and this is their poorest start to a campaign in almost 30 years.
Mike Ashley, the Newcastle owner, took his entire team out and the manager to a heal the wounds slap up meal ahead of this game and the vibes seemed to go well as Newcastle prepare to get some points from this game. The Magpies are searching for their first win of the season and are in 18th place. Away from home they have drawn 2 games and lost one which was a narrow defeat to Manchester City by 2-1, so there is no suggestion this match will be an easy one for United.
