Man Utd vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 15th December 2019
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Have Manchester United turned a new corner? The club are in a rich vein of form and the players really seem to be playing for the manager now. United looked at their best in years as they beat champions and rivals Manchester City last weekend, which probably ended City’s chances of winning the league title for a 3rd consecutive time.

In midweek United destroyed AZ Alkmaar 4-0 and even though a win wasn’t needed it kept up the feel good factor at the club. United have no losses in their last five games and have crept up to 5th in the league and are now just 5 points behind Chelsea in 4th place. A top 4 finish looked like a distant dream a month ago for United but it is clearly now reality as they bask in this great form.

United have lost just 1 game at home and are the only club to take points from Liverpool this season. They have drawn 3 of their last 5 matches at Old Trafford, which would be of concern, although their last league game at home ended in a 2-1 win over Tottenham.

Everton beat Chelsea 3-1 in their last game and the first for caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson, it what was a fantastic win for the club. It moved them up to 14th place but there is a still a lot of work to be done. No one would wish his 2nd game to be away to United though, and on the road Everton have really struggled where they have won just 1 game all season and would be 19th in the league based on away games only.

Everton have lost 4 of their last 5 games away and have scored just 8 goals. Their last away game ended in a 5-2 loss to city rivals Liverpool and they have conceded 7 goals in their last two games.

Man Utd vs Everton Prediction:

There is no doubt that Everton will be more up for this game and put more effort in now that Marco Silva has gone. It’s only been one game but the Chelsea victory has really lifted the club and there is a feel good atmosphere at the club. That could be all set to change on Sunday though, because Manchester United are back in a good moment and they could well go on a good run and finish off the year on a high. Remember last December when Solskjaer came in and they went on a fantastic run, maybe it’s just something to do with the time of the year, although unlikely but the electric pace within this side is brilliant when the players are up for it. We expect United to win this game but that doesn’t mean that Everton won’t play their part.
