Man Utd vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 8:15pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Another game and another test awaits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United will be the heavy favourites to beat Burnley at home on Wednesday evening.

At the time of writing United are 5 points behind 4th placed Chelsea and even though United lost to Liverpool this past weekend Chelsea lost too, and so the gap did not widen.

United’s form has been mixed with 3 wins from 5 and 9 points earned in that time. The recent defeats were both away and to quality such as Liverpool and Arsenal and perhaps very slowly they are turning a corner? However everytime it has looked this way in recent seasons the Red Devils have had an almost uncanny ability to remind us that they are simply not a good team - well not by their usual standards.

Despite some of the bad results and turmoil associated with the club it is easy to forget that they have lost just 1 game at Old Trafford this season, and have the 4th best record in the league on home form. Recent home form has been brilliant winning their last two games over Norwich and Newcastle, and in each one scoring 4 goals. Defeat here could be a disaster that could see Sheffield United, Wolves, and Tottenham eclipse them. United play on a fine line and finishing in 4th is going to take consistency, something that the club have rarely shown in the near 7 years since Sir Alex Ferguson left them.

Burnley ended a 4 game losing streak by beating Leicester 2-1. It was seen as a surprise result and would have been very welcome by Sean Dyche and his team. It moved the club up to 14th and they could be sniffing around the top 10 with a win here.

However Burnley have lost 6 games on the road and have been defeated in 3 of their last four games so this does not bode well at all. They are also nearly averaging 2 goals being conceded a game on their travels.

Team News:

Manchester United: Victor Lindelof looks certain to miss this game after being sent home due to illness in training. Marcus Rashford is out with a back injury and is ruled out for between six weeks to two months

Burnley: Gundmundsson has a chance to return after his hamstring injury. Ashley Barnes is out with his hernia and could miss the next month

Man Utd vs Burnley Head to Head:

Last season the clubs drew 2-2 at Old Trafford.

The last 3 meetings at Old Trafford have all ended in draws and Manchester United have not won this fixture at home since 2015.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Man Utd vs Burnley Prediction:

With Anthony Martial coming under some fire for missing an easy chance against Liverpool and Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba missing we are turning our attentions to who could score for Manchester United and one of those players is Mason Greenwood. The talented youngster has shown a lot of promise, quickness of thought, and an eye for goal when he has had the chance to play and if he gets game time we are backing him to score in this game. The home match and opponent we think could be the perfect tonic for the player to produce a good game. We can see a hard match for United but they should have enough quality to get this job done and collect a much needed 3 points.

Man Utd vs Burnley Betting Tips:
