Man City vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 6th October 2019
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium

Match Preview:

Both Man City and Wolves were involved in European competition in the week with both claiming victories. The difference is that City stayed at home and Wolves had to travel to Turkey to play Besiktas, and City got an extra days rest. Yes football can be unfair at times.

The champions will start as the massive odds on favourites being quoted as low as 1.05 to win this game, but Wolves on their day can be a handful and a quality side too.

Pep Guardiola’s team come into this game 5 points behind Liverpool and that could be 8 by Sunday, any way you look at it they need to win this game. After a surprise defeat against Norwich the champions look back on form, beating Watford 8-0 and then easing past Everton 3-1.

City are the Etihad at home and from their 3 home games so far they have scored an incredible 14 goals and conceded just twice.

Wolves will be tired but they did beat Besiktas away from home with a last minute goal from Wily Boly and when we say last minute we mean the 93rd. It was a fantastic win for the team and they should be in good spirits for this match.

Wolves have suffered in the league but they could be making a recovery which has saw the team draw against Crystal Palace and then beat Watford to move out of the bottom three and into 13th place but the Watford win was their first of the season.

Team News:

Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out with a minor groin injury. John Stones won’t be back until after the international break with a muscle injury. Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are longer term injuries

Wolves: Diogo Jota will be assessed before the game as his toe injury has almost recovered but the player is reporting pain and remains at 50/50. He is the only injury concern for the club

Man City vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 3-0 to Manchester City.

Wolves have not beaten Manchester City since 2010.

2 games from the last 4 has seen the correct score at half time at 0-0.

Man City vs Wolves Prediction:

We expect goals in this game and Wolves could well contribute. We expect to see City start fast and Wolves could suffer here because they could try and attack too, at this stage of the season they have little to lose, at the same time no other teams wants a Watford to happen to them. Surprises can happen but we don’t see it today, City come into this game with all the advantage for the club, especially with no travel and that extra days rest, goals can come from everywhere and this should be a routine win. Wolves should in fact be looking past this game and to more win-able games later in the month.

Gabriel Jesus scored a brace the last time the two teams met and he will be one of our choices to add to his record of scoring against them.
