England Premier League
Saturday 17th October 2020
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium
In some ways Manchester City come into this game under pressure. With just 1 win from their 3 opening games this has not been an ideal start from Pep Guardiola’s team. A heavy lost at home to Leicester was followed up by a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Leeds United which has left City in 14th place.
The bottom half of the table has become unfamilar surroundings for the club and this match feels like a must win. Not just for the three points but to get back on track and install some confidence within the team as the Champions League will be beginning soon too.
City have enjoyed a lot of success against Arsenal in recent years but the feeling is that playing the Gunners under their current form is going to be a tricky encounter for City. They are in such a position that even a win at the weekend would most probably not even elevate them into the top 10.
Arsenal are 4th with 9 points and three points behind league leaders Everton. They have started well and have 3 wins from their opening four games. Their only defeat so far has been away to Liverpool.
The Gunners beat Sheffield United 2-1 in their last game and whilst there is a new found confidence at the team some have pointed out that their wins have been very close affairs. Most notably against West Ham where they also won 2-1 but critics pointed out that the Hammers were unlucky not to get something from that match.
Arsenal have won away this season beating Fulham 3-0 but obviously this is a huge step up at a stadium where they have struggled in recent years.
Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne has a slight knock he will be assessed but it is thought he will be fine for this game. Ilkay Gundogan is only 50/50 to make this match after his return from illness and suffering from fitness issues. Raheem Stering has a minor hamstring injury but is being tipped to be fine for this encounter. Gabriel Jesus is ruled out with a muscle injury and Sergio Aguero isn’t expected back until the end of the month.
Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has a minor ankle injury but is being expected to be fine for this match. Reiss Nelson is hoping to be back after his hamstring injury. Kieran Tierney is ruled out through illness.

There is a 90% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Man City vs Arsenal Prediction:
There is no doubt that if City are on their game they can inflict problems on Arsenal but City come into this game not in the best of form and possibly questioning themselves. They also have some key injuries. The latest one could be Kevin De Bruyne, even if he makes this game, will he be 100% fit?
Arsenal can approach this game knowing that all of the pressure is on the home side. The Gunners are a great price to win here and backing them to do so on the +1 asian handicap meaning that if the game ends in a draw we would still win feels like the right choice to make here, especially as even a 1 goal loss would refund the stake. We may not see the best of City until next month when they should have a proper full squad available but surely missing both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus is going to have consequences up front and City have been struggling in defence of late too.
