Match Preview:
Liverpool will be looking for their 24th win from 25 games and will be the huge favourites to win this game at Anfield. The club eased past West Ham in their last game, which was the game in hand and won that 2-0.
One critcism of the club is that they are not recording big wins for such a good and attacking team, other than that where can we fault this team? Their home record is 100% played 12 won 12 and they are scoring just over 2 goals per game and have conceded just 9 here all season.
The players will want to give another good performance given that the winter break is coming up and they will be allowed some free time. The FA Cup replay they have against Shrewsbury has already been confirmed to be played just with the under 23 players.
Southampton are in 9th with 31 points and they will surely be safe this season after looking desperate just six weeks ago. A fantastic run of form could even ensure they finish in a Europa League spot. This is a far cry from October when they were beaten 9-0 by Leicester and there has been a big turnaround with the club.
The Saints form is good and they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in their last game. What captures the eye is their recent away form where they have won their last 4 consecutive games. This includes beating Leicester and Chelsea.

Liverpool: Sadio Mane continues to be a doubt and looks likely to miss this game with his muscle injury. James Milner is 50/50 and will be assessed after recovering from injury.
Southampton: Stuart Armstrong is out with a hip injury. Cedric is out with a knee injury.

Southampton are safe this season, they can take some risks and we should see a very entertaining game with end to end chances for both clubs.
