Liverpool vs Man City: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 10th November 2019
Kick off at 4.30pm GMT
Venue: Anfield

Match Preview:

Not only the biggest game in the Premier League will be taking place this Sunday but arguably the biggest game in Europe as Liverpool take on Manchester City in what is sure to be a fantastic and fascinating game of football.

Liverpool lead the league and have a six point gap to the champions City. Liverpool are at home and are still unbeaten. Quite frankly they have played on a knife’s edge these past few weeks, and VAR has helped but at the same time they look like they have a lot of mental strength, confidence and look unbeatable in the league - a well oiled machine going up against the team that broke them last season.

The Reds record is fantastic with 10 wins and 1 draw from 11 games and at home they have a 100% record are scoring almost 3 goals a game and have conceded just five goals.

Manchester City have looked slick this season but at the same time have also looked vulnerable. Losing games to Norwich and Wolves wasn’t part of the script and it feels like the club are one game away from blowing this league - this could be that match. Lose and suddenly there is a 9 point gap, win and the league is back on with just a 3 point difference.

City come here with 3 wins in a row and away from home they have won 4 from 5 games and yet that only gives them the 3rd best record in the league. With 15 goals they are only second to Chelsea with the amount scored on the road. Slip up and City have Leicester and Chelsea on their backs. Indeed a poor weekend could well see Pep Guardiola’s team slip to 4th place.

Team News:

Liverpool: NJordan Henderson has illness but he should be fine to return, there are no new concerns for the club ahead of this game

Manchester City: Ederson has a slight muscle injury and is unlikely to be included. David Silva has a muscle injury and is a major doubt for this game

Liverpool vs Man City Head to Head:

Last season in the league this match finished 0-0.

Liverpool have not lost to Manchester City at Anfield in the league since 2003.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

4 of the last 5 league games have seen more goals in the 2nd half.

Liverpool vs Man City Prediction:

This is it a huge match and we are going to back Liverpool to get the win. The Reds are obviously 100% focused on the league title which they haven’t won since 1990. They have played great football and really forced themselves on this competition this season after missing out last season with 97 points. The hunger in this City side needs to be questioned, do they want the Champions League more than a 3rd straight title? Of course they will fight for everything in this game but they have lost 2 matches already. Possibly injuries are totalling up more for Guardiola’s side. Not having Leroy Sane here and the recent injury to Rodri. Guardiola has had to reassemble his defence on more than one occasion and now there is news that play maker David Silva may be missing. However losing Ederson is a massive blow as Claudio Bravo just doesn't give the same level of confidence in goal.

We have a super game on our hands but City have a very poor record here, with the quality that Liverpool possess and the rub of the green they have had so far this season, we can’t look past them.
