Leicester vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 22nd January 2020
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Form for Leicester has clearly taken a hit in recent weeks and one has to wonder if some of the players aren’t suffering from fatigue? The Foxes have lost two consecutive games and these defeats have come against Southampton and Burnley not teams you should be losing too when you are in 3rd place. Of course they were in 2nd but lost that position to Manchester City.

Now third place could be under threat from Chelsea, although the Blues did Leicester a favour by losing last weekend. However, there is a pressure being felt now because a Champions League qualification looked a given at one point, it still looks good, but the club need to get back on track.

In general their home form has been very good winning 7 games from 11 but it has been 3 games now where they haven’t managed to win at King Power Stadium. The flipside to this is of course it won’t last and the club will be hoping to start winning games again in midweek.

West Ham drew 1-1 with Everton and that means that in his 3 league games managed so far David Moyes has won, drawn and lost his matches in charge.

The Hammers are down in 16th place and 22 points behind their hosts. Recent away form has not been good with 3 losses from four although of course Moyes is only responsible for one of those defeats which came against Sheffield United. The club are just 1 point from the bottom three and a win at this point would only take them one position up.

Team News:

Leicester: Ndidi may have taken a set back and isn’t expected to be back for this game with his knee. No new injury concerns since the weekend.

West Ham: Michail Antonio is close to a return though nothing has been confirmed yet and the player remains 50/50 to make the squad. No more injuries to the club but a few long term ones could hurt their chances and are thinning out the team.

Leicester vs West Ham Prediction:

This is a great time to be playing Leicester who have clearly lost form, but West Ham are wholly unconvincing away from home, and usually do lose these type of games. The Hammers also have some key attacking players out like Ryan Fredericks and Felipe Anderson, and have a very poor record against Leicester.

It may seem nonsensical but the fact that Leicester forward Jamie Vardy said that he wasn’t coming out of retirement to play for England if called on because of striker injuries psychologically works in Leicester’s favour. Any matches before the summer can be ruled out and he is 100% committed to his club. This would have been music to manager Brendan Rodgers ears, and Vardy may have just re confirmed how important he is to the club. Leicester to win the game is priced up at 1.50. That seems a little on the non value side to us looking at their form. Therefore we feel goals is the safer market to focus on and we can see both teams getting on the scoresheet, and it wouldn't surprise us if Jamie Vardy got in on the act.

Leicester vs West Ham Betting Tips:

Both teams to score (Yes) at 1.70

Anytime goalscorer: Jamie Vardy at 1.64
