Leicester vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 21st September 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

The Saturday lunch time game has all the potential to be a cracking affair when Leicester host Tottenham. The Foxes lost their first game of the season last weekend when they were beaten at Old Trafford by Manchester United in a game that finished 1-0. The question is how do Brendan Rodgers team react to a defeat?

In fairness Leicester had more possession than United, more passes and more corners. Whilst the most important factor is obviously goals, the club were not outclassed in their defeat. This game against Tottenham could be problematic as Rodgers most probably would have preferred an easy fixture at least on paper after having to face United away from home.

However at the King Power Stadium the Foxes have beaten Bournemouth and drawn with Wolves in their previous two games.

Tottenham had to travel to Greece in midweek and play Olympiacos in the Champions League. Their game ended 2-2 which was a poor result given that they were leading 2-0 and has left a bitter taste in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s mouth. The feeling is that Tottenham have not started the season in the right way and are making heavy weather of games they should be winning.

Having said all of that, the case last weekend was of vintage Tottenham from last season who wiped the floor with Crystal Palace in a convincing 4-0 win. Palace themselves had found good form and come into that game with back to back wins. Heung Min-Son is back to scoring goals and it was the type of performance that Tottenham fans had come to expect of the team in recent times.

The victory over Palace was also the first for Tottenham since the beginning of the season. On the road the club remain undefeated drawing against Manchester City and Arsenal with the score on both occasions being 2-2.

Team News:

Leicester: The Foxes gladly come into this game with no new injuries or suspensions

Tottenham: Juan Foyth is 50/50 to make the final cut after a lack of match fitness. Ryan Sessegnon is making progress with his hamstring injury, though the latest news is that he won’t be back until the end of the month at the earliest

Leicester vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Last season Tottenham did the double over Leicester beating them 3-1 and 2-0.

In the last 7 meetings Leicester have beaten Tottenham just once.

3 of the last 5 meetings have ended in over 3.5 goals.

Leicester vs Tottenham Prediction:

Leicester have two advantages; the first is being at home and the second is that they didn’t have to play and travel to Greece in midweek. The Foxes have the quality to frustrate their opponents at the same time the club would have had a huge backlash from their manager, history says they usually respond to that and this game could come down to some managerial tactics. The feeling is that this game could be a draw, this is always a risky bet over 90 minutes and instead we will go with Both Teams To Score as we suspect there could be a few goals in this game. It is worth getting on Harry Kane to score for Tottenham. Whilst this isn’t new news, the fact is that Kane remains a very good price when Tottenham play away and his goalscoring record makes this choice good value.

Leicester vs Tottenham Betting Tips:

Both teams to score (Yes) at 1.61

Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 2.10

Over 3.5 corners in the first half at 1.44
