Leicester vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 3rd February 2019
Kick off at 2:05pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

It feels almost bizarre that a team of Leicester’s talent are in 11th place. Here is a squad of players lead by Claude Puel who have changed tactics up as the season has gone on, reverting from a 3 man to a 4 man midfield, and giving younger players more opportunity than any other Premier League side. They have beaten Manchester City and Chelsea, and drawn at Anfield to Liverpool, yet here they are fighting in mid table.

The Foxes had the opportunity to beat Liverpool in midweek and played some wonderful football, almost harking back to when they won the league in 2016. Their best possible finish this season looks like it will be 7th and the good news is that despite being four places off that target they are just three points shy of it.

However form coming into this game is not good, they have no wins in their past three matches, and their last victory came against Everton on New Year’s Day. At King Power Stadium they have gained just 14 points from a possible 33 and they have lost 3 of their last 4 matches here. We have said it here before, if Leicester were a movie character they would be Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Sir Alex Ferguson once commented on the game as “football, bloody hell.”, and we wonder if those words were going through Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s mind when he saw his team come back from 2 goals down with three minutes to play against Burnley in midweek to earn a point and save his unbeaten start as United manager.

The draw means United have slipped 2 points behind both Chelsea and Arsenal and come into this game still in 6th place. United have won 3 away games in a row with their last match being a 1-0 win over Tottenham.

Team News:

Leicester: There are no new injury’s for The Foxes but Adrien Silva has joined Monaco on loan for the rest of the season

Manchester United: Anthony Martial has a slight knock but is expected to be fit for this game. Paul Pogba has a knock and will be assessed but is likely to be fine for the game. And finally Marouane Felliani has left the club to join Shandong Luneng Taishan

Leicester vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Earlier this season Manchester United beat Leicester 2-1.

Leicester have not beaten Manchester United since 2014.

The last time the teams played at Leicester the game ended 2-2.

Leicester vs Man Utd Prediction:

When Manchester United were 2-0 down at home to Burnley Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s honeymoon period suddenly looked weak. But 3 minutes is a long time in football and United claimed the draw and all of a sudden we were reminded of the never say die attitude at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson. Solskjaer lived another day and this game is another battle. If the Leicester side that turned up against Liverpool come out fighting here than United are in serious trouble, but there are many versions of Leicester this season.

United need to fight for a top 4 place and dropped points here could see all of the clubs hard work over the last month undone. United need to go on another good run to get the job done and they do have the quality to do so. Watch out for Anthony Martial if he plays after his knock, get on him to score. He has just signed an extended contract with the club until 2024, and will be in very good spirits.

Leicester vs Man Utd Betting Tips:
