Tuesday evening will see a top of the table clash as Leicester take on Chelsea in what could be a mouth watering encounter.

Leicester are now above Liverpool in 3rd place with 35 points and they would go top of the league albeit for 24 hours at least before both Manchester teams play the next day. Leicester could also stretch their lead over Chelsea to 9 points. 

The Foxes underlined their Champions League hopes by beating Southampton 2-0 at home and they will be content knowing that they remain at home again. Form is good with no defeats in their last five and they have earned 11 points in that time. At home it’s been 4 wins from 9 but they have also lost four and drawn just once. Recent home form has improved however, with just one defeat in the last four.

Chelsea were under a lot of pressure going into their local derby with Fulham but they came out the other end and won 1-0 at the weekend, it was a huge result for the Blues. Chelsea were the better side but only scored with 12 minutes remaining through Mason Mount and Fulham played the 2nd half with 10 men. The victory was Chelsea’s first in 3 games and they are in seventh place and 6 points behind their hosts and 8 points behind the leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea’s win over Fulham ended a 3 game losing streak away from home and overall Chelsea have won 14 points from 27 on the road. Victory here would only see Frank Lampard’s move up one place above Everton although Everton would have 2 games in hand over the Blues.

Team News: 

Leicester: Jamie Vardy has a hip injury though it is thought to be minor and he will be assessed ahead of the game. Dennis Praet is out long term with a muscle injury and could miss the next three months.

Chelsea: The Blues have no injuries coming into this encounter.

Chelsea had to fight hard for a win at Fulham but getting back to winning ways could be big for the club, it’s what the players needed and it means 2 wins in a row in all competitions. If Lampard can find the right set up with his strikers and the fact they have a full strength squad then Chelsea have a chance to win this match and the facts are Leicester have struggled to beat Chelsea in recent games.

We think there are quite a few goals in this one and we should see an entertaining game that goes one end to the other, there is very little between the teams and this will add to the excitement of the evening. In terms of the outcome, Leicester look good value considering recent form and home advantage, so that is who we would side with in this match, but goals could be the safer option betting wise.
