Leicester vs Aston Villa: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 18th October 2020
Kick off at 7:15pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Leicester lost their 100% record just before the international break when they lost to West Ham. This was seen as a surprise given that the Foxes were at home and the manner in which they lost in a 3-0 defeat. Incredibly Leicester had no shots on goal and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that this was just a one off blip and that his team can get back to winning ways on Sunday.

Leicester are still 3rd and have had a fantastic start to the campaign which includes beating Manchester City away from home 5-2. Together with Everton Leicester have scored the most goals in the league with 12 so far.

Aston Villa are in 2nd place with a 100% record, played 3 won 3 and this is one of the clubs best starts to a campaign in a generation. Their last game before the break may well go down in history when they destroyed Liverpool and won 7-2. The fact they won was a major surprise but to score seven goals was simply incredible, this from a team who only just survived relegation last season.

The fact is that Dean Smith’s side have started so well that they are already on their way to guaranteeing their survival this season. Villa have also beaten Sheffield United and Fulham. They have played a game less than most of the clubs around them and have conceded just 2 goals. Many believe that this game on Sunday evening will be a big test for the club.

Team News:

Leicester: Daniel Amartey is ruled out with a hamstring which could see the player out for at least a month. Adrien Silva has joined Sampdoria. Jonny Evans picked up a muscle injury on international duty but it is hoped that he will be ready for this game. Jamie Vardy is a doubt with a calf injury and will face a late test. Wes Morgan is 50/50 with a back injury and will also face a test ahead of the game.

Aston Villa: The club have no new injuries but during the break Orjan Nyland’s contract was terminated.

Leicester vs Aston Villa Head to Head:

Last season in this fixture Leicester beat Aston Villa 4-0.

Leicester have scored 8 goals past Aston Villa in their last two meetings.

There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.

Leicester vs Aston Villa Prediction:

Jamie Vardy has scored 4 goals past Aston Villa in the last two meetings between the clubs and his participation in this game will be vital. A late announcement will be made because of his calf injury and if he doesn’t play it could well turn the tide of this game, so check team news first.

We should see a cracking game of football. On one hand Aston Villa will want to take another scalp and prove that their Liverpool win was no fluke. On the other Leicester want to use this game to bounce back from the West Ham defeat and get back on track.

This is a match that has a history of goals in it and not a happy hunting ground for Villa either. We will back Leicester for the win but do check team news beforehand. We also expect to see a few goals in an entertaining match.
