Leicester vs Arsenal: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th November 2019
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Leicester are playing like the team who stunned football and won the Premier League title in 2016. Perhaps they would win this one if it wasn’t for how far Liverpool and Manchester City have stepped up, but there is no denying how brilliant the Foxes have been since Brendan Rodgers arrived earlier in the year.

They come into this game 6 points clear of Arsenal and in 3rd place. The Foxes are two points behind Manchester City and 8 behind Liverpool. With those two teams playing this weekend a positive result here would mean inroads on either one and having the chance to move a massive 9 points clear of the Gunners.

Leicester’s form is excellent with 3 consecutive wins and only one recent loss which was against Liverpool and controversial. Alongside Sheffield United they have the best defence in the league conceding just 8 goals so far and at home they are unbeaten after 5 games with 4 consecutive wins and one draw.

Arsenal compared to Leicester look a shambles. Their captain Granit Xhaka is upset with the fans, will most probably lose the armband and has been dropped for the past two games. Fans are calling for the head of Unai Emery after seeing no progress in 18 months and the club are struggling to score goals - welcome to the 2019 edition of Arsenal.

Despite this they are in 5th place but every club to 9th is within shouting distance of the Gunners. They have drawn their last two games and have not won since a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at the beginning of October.

Emery’s team have the 12th best away record with just 1 win all season and have gained just 5 points from a possible 15. In Europe, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Vitoria in the Europa League and played that game on Wednesday and this is why they are able to play on Saturday.

Team News:

Leicester: There are no new injuries coming into this game for the club

Arsenal: Dani Ceballos looks very unlikely to appear after injuring his hamstring in the Europa League

Leicester vs Arsenal Prediction:

It shows how far Leicester have come and how far Arsenal have fallen to think that if Arsenal were to come away here with a win that it would feel like a surprise but it really would. At home Leicester have the measure of this Arsenal side and we will be tipping them to win at the weekend. Jamie Vardy is on fire at the moment and has a great knack of scoring against Arsenal, 3 goals in his last two home games is enough for us to have confidence that he will make it 4, and he is the league’s top scorer going into this game. Leicester can dominate this game if they show some of their recent form. The fascinating thing to watch here is to see how will Arsenal deal with this situation?
