Leeds vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 19th October 2020
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Elland Road

Match Preview:

Considering Leeds are back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years the club will be very happy with their start. Marcelo Bielsa’s team come into this match in 8th place and Wolves are down in 15th position after a sluggish start.

Apart from losing their opening game against Liverpool Leeds remain unbeaten since and have won 2 and drawn one. Their last game ended in a draw but it felt like it was significant a 1-1 result against Manchester City and the club were a goal down. Because of other favourable results a win for Leeds on Monday night would see them climb into the top 5 so there will be a lot of motivation for the win. At home they have been solid so far with the draw against City and a 4-3 win over Fulham.

Wolves have played four games with a win either side of two defeats. It hasn’t been a perfect start for the club and they have started this campaign with no consistency. A 4-0 defeat at West Ham was followed up by beating Fulham 1-0 in their last game but that won’t convince anyone that Wolves will have something extra to offer this season. There is a worry currently that like Sheffield United Wolves may fail to maintain their quality of last season. This game will go a long way to proving or disproving that theory.

Team News:

Leeds: Liam Cooper has a knock and is only 50/50 to make this game. Kiko Casilla is being tipped to return for this game after his ankle injury.

Wolves: Marcel is back in training and should feature in this match. There are no new injury concerns at the club.

Leeds vs Wolves Head to Head:

The last time the teams met here was in 2018 when they played in the Championship and Wolves won 3-0.

Leeds have failed to win their last two home games against Wolves.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Home or away Wolves have won the last 3 meetings against the teams with Leeds last win coming in 2016.

Leeds vs Wolves Prediction:

We have to respect Leeds start to the season and we don’t expect them to lose many games at home. They showed real character and fight to get a draw against the quality of Manchester City even though they had to come back from a goal down.

Leeds have hardly any injuries and their key players are available and they should be able to get something from this encounter. We will back Patrick Bamford to score again on Monday night.

Wolves will have their chances and that is why we also think goals is looking fairly good value.
