Huddersfield vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 20th April 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Kirklees Stadium

Match Preview:

Not only did Huddersfield go down weeks ago but they are in bottom place in the Premier League and are 6 points behind Fulham.

In the last 10 games The Terriers have picked up just 3 points, which was a surprise last minute home win over Wolves and in that time they have conceded 26 goals. On paper they will be the outsiders to win this match and they have won just 2 matches at home all season and looked destined to finish last in the league.

There is still a month to go but Watford most probably have the FA Cup final on their mind. Their latest loss 1-0 against Arsenal means the club have lost 3 of their last four games. They have slipped to 10th place as a result, and are just 1 point from 7th, the best of the rest finish.

The club suffered a blow against Arsenal, which was the sending off of Troy Deeney who will miss this match. Away from home The Hornets have lost 7 of their 17 games and that includes losing their last 3 in a row coming into this match. Although it should be noted they have had to face both Manchester teams and Liverpool in that time.

Team News:

Huddersfield: Adama Diakhaby is fighting to be fit again after his hamstring injury and could be included in the squad. Demeaco Duhaney has made a quick recovery from his hip injury and will be assessed for this game. Karlan Grant has an illness and could miss this match. Isaac Mbenza also has illness but will be assessed

Watford: Troy Deeney is suspended for 3 games and will miss this game after his red card against Arsenal. Gerard Deulofeu will be assessed after recovering from his ankle injury. Roberto Pereyra has a knock but will be assessed

Huddersfield vs Watford Head to Head:

Watford won this match easily at home earlier in the season running out 3-0 winners.

Last season Huddersfield won their home match 1-0.

Watford have no wins at Huddersfield since 2013.

Huddersfield vs Watford Prediction:

Watford could be missing some key players and even if Roberto Pereyra does return he might be rusty. The fact that Huddersfield are at home might just give them a slight advantage over Watford who have not travelled well to this stadium in recent years. The Terriers go odds on if we back them with the handicap in our favour but there is still value to be had, especially if they can score early on. It is questionable if The Hornets are totally focused on their league standing.
