Fulham vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Friday 9th April 2021
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

This week the Premier League kicks off on a Friday night and will feature a team who desperately need to win and another who will feel they need at least one more win to confirm their safety.

For much of this year Fulham have looked like a side reborn and one with a mission to survive in the Premier League but recent form has been poor and the Cottagers have gone their last 3 games without a win. They are currently in 18th place and have fallen 3 points behind Newcastle in 17th, but not all hope is lost just yet. The worry though for Scott Parker’s side is also West Bromwich Albion in 19th who recorded a stunning result last weekend beating Chelsea 5-2. The Baggies are 5 points behind Fulham but that gap could close quickly.

For all their fight Fulham have the worst home record in the league and have only scored 9 goals so far. They have lost 3 in a row at home with their latest defeat coming against Leeds and the Cottagers have not recorded a win at home since beating Sheffield United 1-0 six weeks ago.

Wolves have 35 points and they should be safe but the club will want that extra win just to feel comfortable. Currently in 14th place this has been an average season for Wolves compared to the last and they seem to have lost their way over the past few months, it’s why they come into this game with no wins in their last five games.

Last weekend they lost 3-2 against West Ham and have in fact lost back to back games coming into this one. Away from home it’s been 4 games since their last win, with their last away match ending 0-0 against Aston Villa.

Team News:

Fulham: Ademola Lookman has a hamstring injury though it is thought to be minor he will need to be assessed ahead of this game. No update on Marek Rodak with his on going hand injury so we should expect him to miss this encounter also.

Wolves: Willy Boly has Covid-19 and is ruled out. Jonny has been ruled out for the season with his latest knee injury. Marcal was expected to be back for this game after a thigh injury but reports suggest this could be delayed for at least another week. Joao Moutinho has a knock and will be assessed.

Fulham vs Wolves Head to Head:

Wolves have been able to win seven of the last 10 meetings against Fulham.

This fixture ended 1-1 the last time the teams played at Craven Cottage, though that was back in 2018.

The last 5 games in a row have all been under 2.5 goals.

Fulham vs Wolves Prediction:

Wolves would dearly love that extra win just to give them peace of mind, but even if they have a collapse they should be fine this season and there will be much more pressure on Fulham to win this game.

The home side can start off the weekend in great spirits if they get a win here but the worry for the club is that after putting in such a strong effort in the past few months they look fatigued. Wolves have a very good record over Fulham and the club can score goals, they have done so in 3 of their last four away games and that includes playing Manchester City.

Fulham have it in them to get the win but Wolves won’t lie down too easily and whilst this looks like being a close game there seems to be some good value with Wolves to get something from this game. However our main pick is with goals, as we feel this game could contain more goals than the bookies expect.
