Crystal Palace vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 22nd September 2019
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Roy Hodgson has to be happy with Crystal Palace’s start to the season and after a summer of discontent for his best players he will be relieved that his team in most parts have responded well. The Eagles come into this game in 12th place with 7 points and have lost two games so far. They impressed in beating Manchester United at Old Trafford which might be their biggest scalp all season, but their latest game ended in a 4-0 whitewash loss at Tottenham, so how could this affect the team?

Hodgson will be hoping that his side can adopt the mentality that they simply lost away to a team equipped to finish in the top 3, and put that match behind them. At Selhurst Park Palace have drawn with Everton and beaten Aston Villa, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that they could claim more points on Sunday.

Wolves had to play on Thursday in the Europa League where they lost 1-0 at home to Braga. The European competition seems to have taken a lot out of a side who were so impressive last season and they come into this game in 19th place with no wins and back to back losses.

The away side are conceding too many goals with 10 so far, continue that form and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see then club ship at least 75 this season. And it doesn’t let up for Wolves who have more European football by the end of the month.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Just one problem for Palace in Connor Wickham who has a knock and looks set to miss this match

Wolves: The club have no injury concerns coming into this match

Crystal Palace vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to Wolves.

4 of the last six meetings has seen both teams to score.

The last time the teams met Palace beat Wolves away from home 2-0.

Crystal Palace vs Wolves Prediction:

Palace will start the fresher team but the objective for this Wolves side will be to keep the game tight for as long as possible. They did have to play in midweek which wouldn’t have helped but at least they were at home. We think the bet to take on here is more goals in the 2nd half of the game. As for a winner, we will back the draw which is risky, but it is hard to separate these teams. We will also back Jordan Ayew to score anytime for the home side. He is playing well and scored the last time they met and he is an outstanding price to get on the score sheet once again considering Palace are at home, check team line ups first though.
