England Premier League
Saturday 9th February 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Olympic Stadium
Match Preview:
The Eagles were able to spread their wings last weekend when they beat a relegation threatened team in Fulham and moved 4 points clear from the bottom three.
Roy Hodgson’s team have now gone their last two games unbeaten after their draw the previous week against Southampton. Palace are still not out of the woods and they would certainly welcome a win here which could see the team move up to 13th place depending on how Brighton get on.
Home form is average with 7 points gained from their last 15 available and only 3 wins this season. But Palace have had problems up front where they have scored just 8 goals at home all season. Only Huddersfield have less.
West Ham put in a superb performance on Monday night at home to Liverpool as the game ended 1-1 and blew the Premier League title chase wide open at the same time. While The Hammers have performed well against the stronger teams at home they continue to struggle away from home where they have lost half of their games. Indeed they come into this match having lost their last 3 away games and two of those, Bournemouth and Burnley were against teams below them in the league.
Another worrying aspect for Manuel Pellegrini’s team is that they shipped 7 goals in those matches without scoring. The club are in 12th place and there is just a 2 point gap between them and 8th position, so there is all to play for.
Team News:
Crystal Palace: Palace have no new injuries coming into this game
West Ham: Manuel Lanzini who has missed the whole of the season is closer to returning but is still two weeks off from doing so. Samir Nasri looks set to miss this game with an ongoing calf injury. More bad news for The Hammers was confirmed this week when Pellegrini admitted that Andriy Yarmolenko who was due back in a few weeks looks set to miss the rest of the season after his achilles injury from October
