Crystal Palace vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 12th January 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Crystal Palace have found some form just when it matters and it will be a valid question to see if they can keep that up. They have sped up to 22 points and suddenly look safe for the first time this season after recent victories against Manchester City and Wolves.

The Eagles have lost just 1 game in their past six and return home for their first league game this year. However they actually have a better away record, and at home they have picked up just 42% of their total points.

A win cannot change Palace’s position but it could put them a massive 9 points from the drop.

Watford are in 8th place and come here on the back of two draws in a row against Newcastle and Bournemouth respectively. The Bournemouth game was a real cracker that ended 3-3. The club are in decent form and have won 8 points from their last 15 and lost just 1 game in their past five.

A win could see them leapfrog Leicester into 7th place. Recent away form is decent and The Hornets have gone their last 3 games on the road undefeated. Draws have been the order of the day which they have achieved 40% of the time away from home.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Christian Benteke looks set to miss this game unless Hodgson is playing mind games. Benteke has a lack of match fitness. Pape Soure is a big miss injuring his shoulder and is set to be out for 2 months

Watford: Andre Gray is set to miss through a lack of match fitness though if he does he should be back next week. Sebastian Prodl’s return from a knee injury has been delayed by another week

Crystal Palace vs Watford Head to Head:

Earlier this season Watford won 2-1.

Crystal Palace have won the last 3 games against Watford when being at home.

Since 2012 Watford have only won once at Vicarage Road.

Crystal Palace vs Watford Prediction:

We think there could be goals in this game and both teams will be happy to attack and so our main bet is to see both teams to score. For this game it could be very close and the temptation is to look at the goalscorers market. Troy Deeney is in decent form and is worth backing to score anytime and Wilfried Zaha has scored against Watford in the last few seasons and is due a goal, and this could well be the game to get it.

Crystal Palace vs Watford Betting Tips:

Both teams to score at 1.80

Anytime goalscorer: Troy Deeney at 3.25

Anytime goalscorer: Wilfried Zaha at 3.50
