Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 23rd November 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

A few seasons ago it was Crystal Palace that derailed Liverpool’s title bid as the Reds started to draw games, could they do that again with Liverpool having an 8 point lead at the top?

Well this time it just feels very unlikely and Palace will have to do what no other team in England has done this season and beat Liverpool. Palace did start the season well but are now in poor form and one feels that other clubs have studied how they play and worked them out. A fine example would be their game against Chelsea where they defended and didn’t show much in attack to go in at Stamford Bridge at 0-0. But Chelsea were able to impose themselves into the game just like Leicester had a week before and Palace ended up conceding in the second half and losing both games 2-0. The same could well happen here.

The Eagles have lost their last two games at home and would be 16th in the league based on home form alone. Liverpool won a massive game before the international break beating rivals Manchester City 3-1 and moving 8 points clear of Leicester in 2nd and 9 points clear of the current champions. They now have a fantastic chance to win the league and many experts in the game believe they will. The bookmakers have priced them up at 1.44 to win it.

Liverpool have won 34 of 36 points and that is a remarkable record losing just 1 game from their past 51, everything says league champions in waiting. Not to mention that they have the best away record, 16 points from 18, their only blemish being the 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Joel Ward could return after a groin injury. Wilfried Zaha is being pencilled in to be back for this game after sustaining a foot injury.

Liverpool: Jordan Henderson has recovered from illness and should be included back in the squad. Joe Gomez has a knock but is expected to be fit. Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah will both face late tests after suffering what appears to be minor ankle injuries but i'd be surprised if Robertson wasn't fit to play.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Last season Liverpool won this game 2-0.

Liverpool have won the last 5 meetings against Palace.

Crystal Palace haven’t beaten Liverpool at home since 2014.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Prediction:

If Liverpool score early this will be a big score but at the same time we think Palace will keep it compact and try to make this a hard game for Liverpool. Liverpool will come out quick and will want this game settled as they have an important Champions League match the week after. This is why we will back Liverpool to be winning at half time, which is a good choice because the Reds are already odds on to win this match. We see a predictable match and another win for Liverpool against a Palace side who are really lacking confidence.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Betting Tips:

Liverpool to be winning at half time at 1.91

Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool) at 1.72
