Chelsea vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th November 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Match Preview:

From dominating games and being the most in form side in the Premier League Chelsea have not had a good week. First they were beaten by Manchester City 2-1 although played well and were leading in that game, but then they drew 2-2 against Valencia putting their Champions League hopes in the balance although they should still qualify for the knockout rounds. This hasn’t been a loss of form for the Blues but it has given manager Frank Lampard some food for thought.

On Saturday Chelsea will play West Ham and will start as the odds on favourites to beat them in this London derby. Chelsea are currently in 4th place but have a 7 point advantage over Wolves. They have lost just once at home and have won their last 3 consecutive games at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham are fast becoming a team who could be facing a relegation battle. They haven’t won a game since September and have fallen to 17th place. They are currently 3 points clear of the bottom three, and there is intense pressure on manager Manuel Pellegrini to keep his job as the Hammers keep putting in one toothless display after another.

The clubs latest loss was to Tottenham and even though they came back to finish the match as 3-2 losers they were 3-0 down early on in the game. The club have lost their last 3 matches coming into this game and away from home they have gained 6 points from 18 available, scoring just 6 goals. Their last away game ended in a 3-0 defeat against Burnley.

Team News:

Chelsea: Tammy Abraham will have a late test on his hip after injuring himself in midweek. Ross Barkley is 50/50 to return after his ankle injury. Callum Hudson-Odoi is pencilled in to return for this game but is still 50/50.

West Ham: Issa Diop is suspended for this game after picking up 5 yellow cards. Manuel Lanzini is expected to be out for some time with a shoulder injury. Jack Wilshere has a muscle injury and is ruled out

Chelsea vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season Chelsea won this fixture 2-0.

West Ham have not won at Stamford Bridge since 2002.

The last 4 meetings have been under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea vs West Ham Prediction:

Chelsea are around 1.30 which for us does not represent the best of value. Remember they have played away in Spain in midweek whilst West Ham have had time off. However Chelsea are far superior to the Hammers. The one worry for Lampard’s side is that West Ham do seem to raise their game in London derbies and against teams in the top six. However West Ham look like they are on the ropes and we feel Chelsea could win this on the handicap. There are goals in this side, they are sure to attack and have most of the possession too and the case for West Ham will be simply to defend. In that sense this could be a game that plays out much like when Crystal Palace came here a few weeks ago and tried to frustrate Chelsea until they got a hold of the game as it went on.

Chelsea vs West Ham Betting Tips:

Chelsea to beat West Ham with a -1 goal start at 1.72
