England Premier League
Saturday 4th July 2020
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Frank Lampard was highly critical of his Chelsea side who lost to West Ham 3-2 in the week. It was Chelsea’s first loss since the restart and even though they looked dangerous going forward they looked weak in defence and West Ham really had a go at them, the same side who have been poor for much of the season.
As for Chelsea the defeat against the Hammers was not expected especially after they had just beaten Manchester City 2-1. The turning point for Lampard’s team seemed to have reached a pivotal moment, no longer was being 4th any good, and the chase was on for 3rd and to take over Leicester. That could still happen, but the defeat to David Moyes team is a set back.
Still Chelsea will be the clear favourites to win this match and they should have enough in the tank to do a professional job here. The Blues have picked up 10 points from their last 15 and remain just a point behind 3rd placed Leicester, but the pressure is on them given that Manchester United and Wolves are only 2 points behind them.
Chelsea have won 50% of their games at home which seems slightly under par for them but they have won their last 3 games in a row here.
Watford are in 17th place and remain one of the favourites to be relegated. Only 1 point separates them from the bottom three. The club have been poor since the restart picking up just one point from 9, and the problem has been defeats against teams near them, apart from Leicester which they actually drew against they haven’t had to face a top 10 team yet.
On the road the Hornets have won just 2 games from 16 and lost 10. They have scored just 11 goals this season.
Chelsea: No new injuries for the club coming into this game
Watford: There are no new injuries for the club ahead of this game
Chelsea vs Watford Head to Head:

Chelsea have won the last 3 league meetings in a row.
This is a game that has goals in it, there have been over 2.5 goals in the last 7 meetings.
Chelsea vs Watford Prediction:
Chelsea will want to bounce back from the West Ham defeat and get their top 4 finish back on track. We should see them play great football, Lampard does not take any fools and strange as it may seem but maybe the defeat to his former club is a blessing in disguise. Chelsea were brought back down to earth and will take the rest of the season seriously.
This is a very difficult game for Watford and we can’t see them getting anything here. It is a case of defend for long periods and hope that Chelsea have an off day, we can’t see that happening and even though the home side are odds on they are worth taking a punt on.
