Chelsea vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th November 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Match Preview:

Who would have thought after changing manager to someone with no top level managerial experience, and having a transfer ban, that by November we can claim that Chelsea are the most in form team in the Premier League? well that is the case.

Frank Lampard started out with a wobble but he has his team playing wonderful football and they are getting the results. The Blues will be the favourites to get another three points on Saturday and come into this game in 4th place with 23 points, separated only on goal difference with Leicester in 3rd.

Chelsea have won their last 5 consecutive games and last weekend beat Watford 2-1 away. It’s interesting to see that they have only won 8 points at home after a slow start but have won their last two games at Stamford Bridge in the league beating Brighton and Newcastle. In midweek they played in the Champions League and turned round a certain losing match in dramatic fashion. At one point Lampard’s team were 4-1 down to Ajax but came back to draw 4-4 and that will only add to the confidence within the team.

Crystal Palace have had a good start to their league campaign also, although they lost last weekend at home to Leicester and have dropped to 9th place. The Eagles could get within 5 points of Chelsea if they were to win at the weekend. However this could be a bad spell for Roy Hodgson’s side who have not won a game since the beginning of October.

Despite some lows for Palace they have won 2 games on the road and two tough ones too in West Ham and Manchester United and it is sure that they won’t be taken lightly by the home side.

Team News:

Chelsea: Ross Barkley will be assessed after his ankle injury and has missed the last few weeks as a result. Jorginho is suspended for this game after picking up five yellow cards. Mason Mount picked up a knock v Ajax but is expected to be fine

Crystal Palace: James McArthur has a minor back injury and is 50/50 for this game. Andros Townsend is still a major doubt to return after his muscle injury but has been pencilled in for this game

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Last season Chelsea won this fixture 3-1.

4 from the last 5 meetings have seen both teams to score.

Chelsea have won the last 3 meetings in a row.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

Chelsea will start as odds on favourites and rightly so. They have played a game in midweek but they stayed in London and will be prepared and motivated by this game. Liverpool face Manchester City and there is a chance that Chelsea will be able to advance on City and all things being considered they could be 2nd by the end of the weekend. Palace will be a test but the club are not in a good moment and from there point of view this will be an incredibly tough game where they will come here and try to defend deep. Chelsea have been excellent in recent weeks but it shouldn’t escape us that they have conceded in 3 of their last 4 games and even done so to bottom club Watford. In that respect and with the fact that in this fixture there is a high rate to see both teams to score we will also include this market in our selection. Odds on Chelsea to win are as low as 1.30 and so instead we will be backing them to be leading on the hour for slightly better value.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:

Chelsea to be winning at 60 minutes at 1.57
