Cardiff vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th March 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Match Preview:

Cardiff have hit bad form bang on at the wrong time as they come into this game having lost their last 3 in a row. What has been worrying for the club is how they are shipping goals too. They have conceded 10 in those games and have not been playing top sides in the league.

A 5-1 home loss against Watford followed a 3-0 defeat again at home to Everton and their last game ended in a 2-0 loss to Wolves. The club are in 18th and are 2 points from safety. Three points are needed from this game but the club have not won at home since the beginning of February.

West Ham have found good form with just 1 loss in their previous five and won their last game comfortably over Newcastle 2-0. But their recent away record tells a very different story where they have gained just 1 point from their last 15, overall they have lost 50% of their games away from home.

The Hammers are losing touch with 7th place and are in 9th coming into this game and 4 points behind Wolves.

Team News:

Cardiff: Sol Bamba is out for the season after his knee injury sustained in the last game v Wolves

West Ham: The club have no new injuries coming into this game, though have 4 long term absentees who have missed most of the season and will continue to do so

Cardiff vs West Ham Head to Head:

Earlier this season West Ham beat Cardiff 3-1.

The last time the teams played here was in 2014 when West Ham won 2-0.

West Ham have won the last 7 fixtures in a row.

Cardiff have not beaten West Ham since 2011.

Cardiff vs West Ham Prediction:

West Ham have the better team but are in dire form away from home. At the same time Manuel Pellegrini seems to have found some sort of balance within his team and they are playing confident football. They also love playing Cardiff. As for the home side they are clearly very nervous, still in the bottom three and the games are going away fast. It is a problem that they keep conceding goals, and we can see a victory here for The Hammers.
