Cardiff vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 10th November 2018
Kick off at 12.30pm GMT
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Match Preview:

Cardiff received their 8th loss of the season from the opening 11 games last weekend against Leicester and even though we are only in November the feeling is that Neil Warnock and his team could be one of the relegation contenders.

The Bluebirds have scored just 9 goals all season and at home they have won 1 game which came against Fulham in a 4-2 win. Last weekend was a difficult and tense match against Leicester given the recent tragedy that befell the Foxes, but this will be a back to back home game for Cardiff and if no points are picked up Warnock will be very worried.

Brighton’s good form which saw the club win 3 games in a row came to an end when they lost 3-1 at Everton last weekend. They have not been the easiest team to predict when one week Chris Hughton’s side look like a firm top 10 side and the next week a bottom half club.

This will be Brighton’s 2nd away game in a row and on the road they have won just 4 points from a possible 18. They have won just one of their away games from their past four.

Team News:

Cardiff: Harry Arter is suspended for this game after picking up a suspension because of his five yellow cards so far this season. Ashley Richards is out with a hamstring injury. Kenneth Zohore is fighting to be fit for this game but is ranked as a low chance to make it in time

Brighton: David Button could return after his knee injury. Alireza Jahanbaksh is set to miss this game as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury

Cardiff vs Brighton Head to Head:

The last two meetings at Cardiff have ended with the correct score of 0-0.

7 of the last 8 meetings have been under 2.5 goals.

Brighton have not won at Cardiff since 2013.

Cardiff vs Brighton Prediction:

Cardiff need to get their act together because they are in a bad place and losing games at home. This will mean relegation for Warnock’s team. They have the opportunity now to get all three points at home as they failed that in their last game. Cardiff need to play a more expressive game and take more risks. We saw this against Arsenal and Fulham, and even though they lost to Arsenal, they took them to a 3-2 result and were a constant danger. This is a huge match for the home side and we will take faith in them getting the win but cover the draw for extra security.
