Cardiff vs Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 2nd February 2019
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Match Preview:

What an incredibly tough few weeks it has been on Cardiff after the tragic events of new signing Emiliano Sala going missing when his plane crashed into the channel. Cardiff manager Neil Warnock almost driven to tears in his latest press conference admitted that he had considered walking away from football when he heard the news, and the team remain dearly shaken by events, as do his former side Nantes.

This game will be Cardiff’s first at home since the news and it is sure to be emotionally charge as the club look to get a much needed 3 points in this early evening kick off.

Cardiff were able to hold Arsenal in midweek for the majority of the game but the difference in quality finally told and The Gunners went onto win 2-1. The club are in 18th and a worrying 4 points behind safety. They have not won a game of football this year. At home they have not won since the beginning of December and have now gone 3 games without victory.

Bournemouth were simply magnificent in beating Chelsea, who could have expected them to win 4-0? It was a superb result for Eddie Howe’s side. They have won back to back games coming into this one and are 14 points ahead of their hosts.

However on the road the situation is different where the club have gained just 9 points from a possible 33. They have lost their last five games in a row and in that time have conceded 16 goals, they are completely a different side when not playing at home.

Team News:

Cardiff: Harry Arter cannot face his parent club. Victor Camarasa has a minor knock and could be assessed ahead of the game. Gary Madine has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season

Bournemouth: David Brooks has a knock but it isn’t thought to be major and he might make the squad. Jefferson Lerma has an ankle injury and is 50/50 for this game

Cardiff vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

In the reverse fixture Bournemouth won this game 2-0.

The last time the teams played at Cardiff was in 2015 where the game ended 1-1.

In the last 5 meetings Cardiff have just one win.

Cardiff vs Bournemouth Prediction:

This game will have emotions running high and it will affect the players on the field and that is why one of our choices here should be to see the game goalless at half time. Cardiff showed some spirit pulling a goal back against Arsenal last time out and Warnock will be rallying his players to put a shift in and get a home victory after a lot of disappointments and poor form. Bournemouth despite being superb in midweek simply cannot be trusted on the road so we will side with Cardiff 'double chance' who will give, one suspects, everything in this game.

Cardiff vs Bournemouth Betting Tips:

Double chance (Cardiff or draw) at 1.61

Half Time score: 0-0 at 2.50
