England Premier League
Sunday 5th July 2020
Kick off at 12noon BST
Venue: Turf Moor
Burnley come into this game in 10th place and compared to last season this has been a successful one for the club. They have a chance of European football next season with 45 points and would love to finish in the top half of the table.
Since losing 5-0 to Manchester City they have recovered well and recorded back to back wins against Watford and Crystal Palace. Manager Sean Dyche would have been pleased that after conceding 5 in their first game back they have kept two clean sheets following that.
Sheffield United beat Tottenham 3-1 in their last game and that would have been welcome relief for manager Chris Wilder who had seen his side restart the campaign in poor fashion. The latest victory was fantastic and showed why the Blades have had such an impact on the season. It moved them up to 7th with 47 points and dreams of European football next season are very much on.
The majority of the Blades’ away games have ended in draws with 8 from 16 finishing this way. They have gone their last three games without a win on the road.
Burnley: Robert Brady has recovered from injury but has some fitness issues, but he could be considered for this game. Jack Cork has picked up an ankle injury and is only 50/50 for this game. Gudmundsson has some fitness issues but will be assessed before the match.
Sheffield United: Leon Clarke has been ruled out for two weeks, no update has been given why. John Fleck is out until mid July with a groin injury. Luke Freeman has a flare up of an old injury and will miss at least 2 weeks. John Lundstram has a shoulder injury and has been ruled out for at least a fortnight. Jack O’ Connell is recovering from a knee injury and is being pencilled to be back for this game, but there is no confirmation at present
Burnley vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:
In the reverse fixture earlier this season Sheffield United won 3-0.
The last time the clubs played at this ground was in 2011 when Burnley won 4-2.
There has been 15 goals in the past 3 meetings.
Burnley vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:
We should see a very entertaining game where both clubs will attack and have numerous chances. United have some key injury worries and Burnley should be back on track after hitting good form, so Burnley have the edge in this encounter. We expect to see at least a couple of goals, despite the bookies thinking otherwise.
Both clubs should be celebrating a very good season, many could have thought they would have been trying to stay up and yet the truth is they are facing off in a duel to try and qualify for Europe.
