Burnley vs Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 22nd September 2018
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

A penny for Sean Dyche’s thoughts after a nightmare start to this season has left his side bottom of the league. At the beginning of the season the team’s Europa League exploits could have been used as an excuse as to why they were not fully focused on the league. But that’s been a few weeks now since they have been knocked out and as cliche as it may sound the player’s need to take a long good look at themselves.

Burnley come into this game with 4 straight losses and are seeking their first win of the season. Whilst it doesn’t look good for the side they came close in their last game where when playing Wolves and narrowly lost 1-0. But the worrying trend is that they have only faced one top 6 six side so far in Manchester United and are still losing games and have scored just 3 goals so far this season.

Bournemouth have lost just one game so far which came away to Chelsea and otherwise have had a solid start to the new campaign. They are in 5th place and last weekend they were involved in an exciting game with Leicester which they won 4-2. They have only played two away games so far, the Chelsea match and West Ham which they won 2-1 after going a goal behind.

Team News:

Burnley: No new injuries but Ben Gibson will hope to back after suffering a muscle injury a few weeks ago

Bournemouth: Junior Stanislas will be assessed more ahead of this game after his knee injury. Marc Pugh has been working hard in training after his hamstring injury and could make the squad

Burnley vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

Last season Burnley lost this fixture 2-1.

The last 3 meetings have all ended with the same correct score of 2-1. Twice for Bournemouth and once for Burnley.

Home and away the last 5 fixtures have seen both teams to score.

Burnley vs Bournemouth Prediction:

Bournemouth are looking strong at home and they haven’t had too many tests away from home to really judge them yet. They are a team full of confidence and the one worry is that they will come into this match against the bottom side and show some complacency. They showed hints of that against Leicester last weekend but got away with it.

On paper Bournemouth might be the team to pick, but this is not going to be an easy game, therefore it's essential we cover the draw in any result based selection here. As back up we will also go for most goals to occur in the 2nd half as Burnley will want to keep this game as compact as they can in the earlier exchanges.
