Burnley vs Arsenal: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 6th March 2021
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley have had a run of tough fixtures, Tottenham followed by Leicester and now Arsenal, and so far they have managed to earn just a point. Against Tottenham Burnley looked in trouble before a ball was kicked and promptly went on to lose 4-0. At home to Leicester the club got off to a great start and were leading the game within 5 minutes but inevitably Leicester got into the game and equalised. In fairness though Sean Dyche’s played some good football and they might have something up their sleeves for the visit of Arsenal.

It’s just one defeat in their last four for Burnley and they come into this game with 29 points and are six clear of the drop.

Arsenal are in 10th and have 8 points more than their hosts. It’s been strange form in some ways for the Gunners who have lost 3 of their last five but last weekend they beat Leicester 3-1 away from home which was a highly impressive result.

Mikel Arteta’s side have only drawn once away this season and have won 6 and lost 6. But they have picked up 9 points from their last 15 on the road and have improved over the past few weeks. Arsenal could climb to 9th if Aston Villa lose at the weekend and the Gunners can find a victory here.

Team News:

Burnley: Ashley Barnes looks set to miss this game with an ongoing thigh injury. Robert Brady will be assessed because of a lack of match fitness. Jack Cork will be assessed because of tightness in his muscle. Gudmundsson is hopeful to play after recovering from injury but will face a late assessment.

Arsenal: Runar Runarsson is ruled out with a knee injury. Emile Smith-Rowe is 50/50 with a slight hip problem and will be assessed.

Burnley vs Arsenal Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 0-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Burnley won 1-0.

Arsenal have beaten Burnley 8 times from the last 10 league meetings.

Burnley vs Arsenal Prediction:

Arsenal have had some recent poor results against Burnley but overall they have been dominant against Sean Dyche’s team and do have the better squad. Arsenal have allowed themselves to play within of themselves too many times over the past 18 months and the clubs philsophy of freedom on the ball and attacking flair has rarely been seen.

However there has been glimpses of the great Arsenal sides from past seasons in this campaign and they should feel they can come here and get a result. Because of the clubs inconsistencies they are a good price to win this early kick off on Saturday and when you look at the quality of players they have they can get a few goals here. The Leicester win was huge for the club and they had to come back in that one, something that Arsenal have been poor at doing lately.

As for Burnley they could still go down and to be honest they will be nervous for this game against a quality side that can punish them on the counter. It’s a solid away win for us.
