Brighton vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 17th August 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Once we had applauded Manchester City and Liverpool for getting off to inevitable winning starts scoring 9 goals between them, we could turn our attentions to Brighton who arguably pound for pound were the team of the opening weekend in the Premier League.

In their first league game with new manager in charge Graham Potter the club played more like they were being coached by Harry Potter as they whizzed their way to a 3-0 victory against Watford and did that at Vicarage Road. It was no mean feat to beat a team that finished 11th last season winning 14 games along the way.

The club will be in a very confident mood ahead of this game, their first home match of the season. This team has goals in them and will create many chances.

West Ham started their season in horrific style losing 5-0 at home against Manchester City. On one hand facing such a great team and the champions on the first day of the season even at home is unlucky, but if truth be told the Hammers were outclassed in every department and did not play well, it was a case of the manner of the defeat. It said everything about the game when the biggest cheer from the home fans occurred when a Manchester City goal was disallowed.

Team News:

Brighton: The club have long term injuries from last season, but have no new injuries coming into this game

West Ham: The big loss could be Felipe Anderson who was taken off during the Manchester City defeat with a thigh injury. He could miss this game although there has been no updates. Mark Noble has a dead leg and missed the opening game, he is 50/50 to make a return. Jack Wilshire suffered a dead leg in the first game but the good news is that he has recovered and he should be available for this game

Brighton vs West Ham Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played the game ended 2-2.

The last time Brighton played West Ham at home they won 1-0.

West Ham have not beaten Brighton away since 2011.

Brighton vs West Ham Prediction:

Manuel Pellegrini’s team will have to be up to speed for this match, which will be far from easy, and if they do not start on the front foot this could be a long afternoon. Brighton got such a positive result and played good football last week it is unlikely that they won’t be on the ball for this game. West Ham did not perform at all last weekend and coming to Brighton has not been a happy hunting ground for them, they have every chance to get something from this game, but if they are missing the pace of Felipe Anderson that could hurt them greatly. Our bet here is to back the home team, who will be oozing confidence coming into this match.
