Brighton vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 2nd February 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton did find themselves 2-0 up against Fulham in midweek before collapsing and losing 4-2. Another defeat on the road has just added to the clubs woes away from home where they have lost 9 games from 13.

However Chris Hughton’s side are a different kettle of fish at home and they will fancy their chances when Watford come to town. At The Amex the club have lost just 3 games all season, although recent form overall has been poor where they have lost their last 3 games in a row. Indeed their last victory came against Everton just before New Year but because of their form they have lost touch with 12th place and are now 5 points behind West Ham.

Watford gave a lot in midweek and were just 10 minutes away from beating Tottenham at Wembley. Then they conceded 2 late goals and the rest is history. It was the clubs first defeat in six games but because so many of their games recently have been dogged with draws they have just one win in that time.

The Hornets are 7 points clear of their hosts and a secondary table in the league has developed, currently leading that is Wolves in 7th place and they will be gunning for that position that could well turn into a Europa League one depending on who wins the domestic cups. The club have performed decent away from home with their latest loss to Tottenham being just their 4th this season.

Team News:

Brighton: No new injuries for the club ahead of this match

Watford: Abdoulaye Doucoure is expected to be fit again for this match after he injured his knee but there has been no confirmation

Brighton vs Watford Head to Head:

In the reverse fixture earlier this season Watford won 2-0.

Last season Brighton beat Watford 1-0 although it was the clubs first victory at home against Watford since 2005.

The last 3 games to take place when Brighton have been the home side have all ended in under 2.5 goals.

Brighton vs Watford Prediction:

At the beginning of the season together with Wolves these two teams had impressed and punched above their weight and there isn’t much between them even though Watford have been able to push on since then. Brighton are not having a good spell at this time and both clubs come into this game wanting to make amends for both leading their respective games and blowing it. We expect this match to be end to end stuff but also expect that it won’t open up more until the 2nd half and that is the market we will concentrate on for this game.
