Brighton vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 30th June 2020
Kick off at 8:15pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

There is just one Premier League game to be played on Tuesday as Brighton take on Manchester United. The home side will have reasons to be cheerful despite being down in 15th place. Their opening two games have been tough fixtures against Arsenal and Leicester and yet they have won 4 points from the games, including beating Arsenal.

Undefeated since the restart has also meant that Graham Potter’s side have opened up a 5 point lead over 16th placed West Ham to give them some breathing space. Overall Brighton have lost just one game from their last five and at home they have been defeated just 4 times. The clubs most common result at home has been the draw which has occurred 6 times from 15 games.

Manchester United have drawn against Tottenham and beaten Sheffield United 3-0 and have looked quite slick as they try to claim 4th place. They have dropped down to sixth position with Wolves playing but can go above Nuno Espirito Santos’ side on goal difference with a win here.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have had plenty of ups and downs since he has been manager but before the league stopped United seemed to have turned a corner and were playing good football, the objective now is to have a strong finish. The club have lost 6 games away from home overall but are undefeated on the road for their past 3 matches.

Team News:

Brighton: Adam Webster has a hamstring injury but it is thought not to be serious, it is touch and go whether he will make this match though.

Manchester United: Phil Jones has a knock which has been ongoing and presently it looks remote that he will be available for this match. Axel Tuanzebe also has a knock and looks out of this game.

Brighton vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Earlier in the season Manchester United beat Brighton 3-1.

Last season Brighton won this fixture 3-2.

The last 3 meetings have seen 12 goals.

Manchester United have not won at Brighton since 1983 although in that time the teams have only played each other 4 times here.

Brighton vs Man Utd Prediction:

This is an important game for the Red Devils given that they are currently 5 points behind Chelsea and really need all three points here. Injuries are limited and their attacking players are all fit. Paul Pogba has looked refreshed and raring to go and Anthony Martial will have new found confidence after scoring a superb hat trick against Sheffield United. Even though this match is away one could understand that if United did not win it would feel very disappointing to them.

Brighton have started well but facing United is clearly their hardest game yet, though they will give it a try and cause some problems. This is a fixture usually loaded with goals and we have a feeling that we will see a repeat in midweek.
