Brighton vs Man City: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 12th May 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

The final day of the season sees every Premier League team kick off at 3pm on a Saturday which brings back a nostalgia to football long lost since the Premier League was formed, for any of you old enough to remember.

Champions Manchester City will take on Brighton away from home in a game of massive and epic proportions. They have been pushed all the way by Liverpool and lead The Reds by 1 point coming into this game. The task is simple for City, win this game and they win the league.

Brighton will be happy enough as Crystal Palace finally sent down Cardiff, the only threat for Chris Hughton’s side and the team have guaranteed their survival.

They have had a horrendous 2019 and in their last 15 games they have picked up just 10 points. Only the clubs solid start to the season has saved them. At home their last match ended 1-1 against Newcastle but they have gone their last 4 games here without a win.

Manchester City have been fantastic in winning 13 games in a row and they have had to win them as Liverpool have been with them the whole way. If City pick up the title on Saturday it will arguably be Pep Guardiola’s most savouried title in his career. This team would have really earned it.

The only criticism one could say about the clubs performances is that they are narrowly winning games. 3 of their last 5 matches have ended in 1-0 victories and it only takes a surprise goal to end their title hopes. Guardiola will be hoping for more in this game.

On the road City have picked up 41 points from a possible 54 losing just 3 times and have scored 34 goals which alongside Liverpool is the best record, which they will beat if they win this game.

Team News:

Brighton: There are no new injuries for the side coming into this game

Manchester City: Claudio Bravo has a lack of match fitness but is back in training after missing the entire season. It is possible that Guardiola will include him in the squad but he certainly will not play or start the match. Kevin De Bruyne will be assessed but could miss the final match due to a muscle injury. Fernandinho could return after his knee injury

Brighton vs Man City Head to Head:

The teams last met in April in the FA Cup where Manchester City won 1-0.

Manchester City have won the last 4 meetings against Brighton.

The last time the teams played at The Amex, Manchester City won 2-0.

Brighton vs Man City Prediction:

If all goes to form then Manchester City should win but they are very short odds around 1.10 to win. Given that there will be tension and nerves surrounding this game and that City for all their dominance in matches have not been winning convincingly this is a market we should avoid even if we do believe that City will win.

Brighton will also want to give a good account of themselves in their final home game of the season. But it is obvious that the team will be defending for long periods. Despite how poor they have been they have not been conceding many goals lately and managed a great 1-1 draw at Arsenal last weekend. Surely City will just about have enough in the tank to get the job done. Perhaps Liverpool reaching the Champions League final will have that extra positive effect on the team to win the league.

Brighton vs Man City Betting Tips:

Manchester City to be winning at 30 minutes at 2.00

Anytime goalscorer: Raheem Sterling at 1.91

Correct Score: Manchester City to win 2-0 at 7.00
