Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 10th August 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth who finished 14th last season will take on newly promoted Sheffield United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Eddie Howe’s side will be starting their 5th season in the top flight and finished 11 points above the relegation zone. Two players have come in for £13m each including left back Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City and Arnaut Danjuma from Club Brugge.

Bournemouth had a decent pre season run out which included a 2-0 win over Lyon and a 4-3 thrilling loss against Lazio.

Sheffield United are back in the Premier League and if truth be told if they were to finish 17th that would mark some kind of victory for them. Of course they have no intention of dicing with the relegation zone all season.

The Blades have spent over £30m on talent including Olivier McBurnie for £20m coming from Swansea and Lys Mousset has been bought from Bournemouth. Making a return to English football once more is Ravel Morrison too, and they will have gained a wealth of experience bringing in central defender Phil Jagielka from Everton on a free transfer.

In fairness United never really tested themselves in pre season although they did beat Real Betis 1-0 but lost their last game before the season away to Reims in a 3-1 defeat.

Team News:

Bournemouth: David Brooks will be ruled out until at least October with an ankle injury. Charlie Daniels has a chance to return after a lack of match fitness. Dan Gosling is out until the end of the year with a hip injury, Lloyd Kelly has an ankle injury and looks set to miss this game.

Sheffield United: At the time of writing Sheffield United come into this game with no significant injuries

Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:

The teams haven’t met since 2013 when Sheffield United playing away from home won 1-0.

The last 4 recent games have all ended in Sheffield United wins.

The last 2 games played at Bournemouth have had the correct score at half time as 1-0 to Sheffield United.

Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

This is a big game for both clubs who would love to be able to put 3 points on the board to kick start their season. Sheffield United will be one of the favourites to be relegated this season but Bournemouth may not be too far behind. History does side with United to win this game, but the players will be naturally cautious and a little nervous as they start their Premier League campaign.

As the match goes on and with some weary legs we think that the game will open up and more chances will be created and our main bet here will be to see more goals in the 2nd half. We will also back a draw at half time.

Bournemouth vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:

Half with most goals: 2nd half at 1.91

Draw at half time at 2.10
