Aston Villa vs Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 17th August 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Villa Park

Match Preview:

Aston Villa almost provided the first surprise of the Premier League season last weekend before Tottenham came back and beat them 3-1. Still for almost 70 minutes they were leading 1-0 in London and very nearly pulled it off, but once Tottenham had equalised their hearts fell a bit and so did their energy, but it was still a great display from Dean Smith’s team.

This game, their first at home, gives them the chance to avenge that defeat and pick up their first points of the season. In truth any loss here would just start to create that cloud of doubt for the team that have come up from the Championship, making this a more improtant game than their season opener against Tottanham last weekend.

Bournemouth are getting used of their Premier League status now but probably didn’t start their league campaign in the fashion they would have wanted when they could only draw against another newly promoted team in Sheffield United at home. That match ended 1-1 with Bournemouth taking the lead but to be fair Sheffield United seemed to match them that day. Bournemouth will need to give a better performance to get anything from this game, especially without home advantage this time.

Team News:

Aston Villa: James Chester has a hamstring injury and will miss up to 1 month on the sidelines

Bournemouth: David Brooks is a long time casualty having injured his ankle in pre-season and will miss the next 2 months. Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld has a foot injury which meant he missed the first game of the season but he could be included in the squad for this game. Lloyd Kelly looks out of this game with an ankle problem and Junior Stanislas and Dan Gosling have long term injuries which could see the pair miss the first couple of months of the new season

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

The last time the teams met was in 2016 when Bournemouth won 2-1 away from home.

The clubs have only played each other 3 times in recent history, where Aston Villa have 2 wins and Bournemouth have 1.

There is a 66% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Prediction:

Aston Villa put a lot into their game at Tottenham last weekend and there was no denying that it was a tough fixture to start off with playing the team who finished in the top 4 and away too. Now at home and playing an experienced team but perhaps one more on Villa’s level they have to believe that they have the tools to get the job done and pick up their first win of the season. Villa Park will be jumping for their first game back here in the Premier League and we are backing an open attacking game, which therefore should lead to goals being the most suitable markets to focus on for this game.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Betting Tips:
