Arsenal vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 19th September 2020
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Arsenal and West Ham have a good enough rivalry to see sparks fly and this London derby should be no different even without fans to create the atmosphere. There is no doubt coming into this game which club come here with the most confidence and that will be Arsenal.

The Gunners got off to a perfect start in the league when they beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage. Arsenal really struggled to keep the lead last season and did not win enough games on the road so this victory was significant and they did it all whilst keeping a clean sheet.

Arsenal will play in the Carabao Cup next week so they were able to have a rest and being at home they will be well prepared for this game.

West Ham put in a poor display against Newcastle at home losing 2-0 on the opening weekend of the season. There was a lack of real quality play and captain Mark Noble has been made the scapegoat after criticising the clubs owners. An American consortium has approached the club to buy them, but their first bid of £350m has been turned down.

So it’s all been a bit of a nightmare for the club recently. Having said that spirits would have picked up in midweek in the Carabao Cup when the Hammers beat Charlton, a potential banana skin 3-0. Sebastien Haller scored a brace and this has surely been a boost for the club. A poor start to the league and an exit from one of the cups so early on would have put a huge downer on the club, but they will feel much better now, having said that a trip to the Emirates Stadium is probably not what any of the players would have chosen right now.

Team News:

Arsenal: David Luiz missed the game v Fulham due to a neck injury, he could be assessed for this game but is only 50/50 at present to feature. Sokratis has a calf strain, and there is no word if he will be available for this match

West Ham: Jack Wilshere has an ankle injury though it is thought to be minor and he will be assessed ahead of the game. He is the only injury concern for David Moyes side.

Arsenal vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season Arsenal won this fixture 1-0.

In the last 9 meetings West Ham have won just once.

From the last 12 games played at the Emirates West Ham have just 1 victory which last happened in 2015.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Arsenal vs West Ham Prediction:

Arsenal have the quality to run out 4-0 winners, but football isn’t always that simple. West Ham are in a corner, just like they were back in June when they found form and started a good run. Just like they were when they had a nightmare fixture list last Christmas too. The Hammers usually get their tails up against the better teams and give them a game, so they have more than a chance to get something here.

However Arsenal are strong at home even when they have been perceived to be quite weak in the last few seasons. They have a solid record over West Ham, and whilst we think the away side can cause them problems we don’t see Arsenal losing this game.

Arsenal vs West Ham Betting Tips:
