Match Preview:

History will be made at the Emirates on Sunday when a different manager resides over the club for the first time at the stadium and at Arsenal for 22 years. That man is Unai Emery and his first job will be a tough one, trying to beat the current Premier League champions Manchester City.

Emery has spent almost £70m in the summer reshaping the Gunners and it should be one of the most interesting and intriguing stories this season. Experienced defender Stephan Lichtsteiner was brought in from Juventus and goal keeper Bernd Leno cost £19m from Bayer Leverkusen. The big money went on Uruguayan Lucas Torreira and the midfielder will be a big part of Emery’s plans.

Arsenal have had a good pre season beating PSG 5-1 and drawing against Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.

Manchester City have made 7 singings but only one catches the eye and that is Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for £60m. The signing looks a bargain in the current climate given that Mahrez has so much experience in the league and has already won it with Leicester.

City lost to Dortmund and Liverpool in pre season but beat Bayern Munich, however their big game against Chelsea was won confidently beating them 2-0 to win the Community Shield, both goals coming from talisman Sergio Aguero.

Arsenal: Saed Kolasinac is ruled out until October. Nacho Monreal and Aaron Ramsey remain doubts for this game.

Manchester City: Danilo has an ankle sprain and is a big doubt for this match.

This is a huge game already for Emery and Arsenal because City are simply a better team. Despite that Arsenal at home and in Emery’s first game will give everything and it's certainly possible they could claim a point from this game.
